I am committed to equitable, anti-racist pedagogy that equips all of my students to critically analyze structures of power and make transformative, dynamic analysis and arguments. With every course I work to support a community of learners who are each able to succeed, not in spite of, but because of their diverse life experiences. Using film, literature, and visual media, I guide students through understanding and intervening in depictions of racialization onscreen through close reading and rigorous (as well as creative) assignments. I encourage students to bring their full selves to our classroom as they learn to use literature and popular culture as the grounds for transformative action and critical thought.
